IT TAKES TOP RECRUITING TALENT TO RECRUIT TOP TALENT

I was at a party one night and got into a ‘mine’s bigger” type conversation with a bunch of guys. One guy actually challenged me that his friend could add three series of numbers in his head quicker than I could with the calculator on my I-phone.

Here’s what happened: in three separate attempts I was able to produce the calculations faster with the calculator than his friend could do the calculations in his head.

Two things you may not know:
Everyone who witnessed this competition had more trust in the calculator’s total than the numbers from the guy’s head.
But each time, the guy produced the exact totals as the calculator.

Let me ask you three questions:

Which guy would you believe had the correct answer: the guy with the calculator or the guy doing the calculations in his head?

If you need to hire someone who was good with numbers, who would you hire: the guy with the calculator or the guy who is good at doing calculations in his head?

If you need to find top talent for your hard to fill jobs, who would you trust to do the best job: the recruiter who is good at finding resumes on the Internet, or a recruiter who is good at headhunting, sales and relationship building?
